Smart Cities Meeting- Gothenburg June 2015

The City of Ghent launched a new tool to stimulate the purchase of solar panels. On a digital map the solar potential of every roof in Ghent can be assessed. With this tool, citizens, shop owners and companies can easily discover how suitable their roof is for solar panels, and how much solar energy they can produce.

Members of the STEP UP team from Riga Technical University have published an article - "Concept of Smart City: First Experience of City of Riga" in the Journal of Sustainable Architecture and Engineering" of Kaunas University of Technology.
ACE Project develops 'Sustainability Meter for Economic Sites'.
A sustainability meter for economic sites has been developed through the ACE (Answers to the Carbon Economy) project. The various steps to be taken to ensure a sustainable project are clearly set out in this compendium. Sustainability and sustainable building are clearly defined and given concrete form.
Gothenburg STEP UP Team work together on Regeneration of Frihamnen
Frihamnen (The Free Port) – is an area of Gothenburg which until the decline of the shipbuilding industry in the 1980s had an important role in the city’s industrial sector. Since then, the area has been underdeveloped and an unused resource. There are large areas of centrally located land close to the river which holds great potential for creating attractive homes and workplaces for many people.
At a workshop at Älvstranden Utveckling AB (the River Bank Development Corporation), on the 17th of February, the STEP UP partners of Gothenburg: the city council representatives, Älvstranden and SP teamed up discuss how the climate Strategy objectives and the vision for Älvstaden (the river city vision) can be linked with the Free Port challenges, and how pipeline projects from the STEP UP project could be involved in the process.
